Artist: Maurizio Camatta

Informal painter whose favorite subject is the representation of nature and its phenomena, Maurizio Camatta was born in Polla in 1966 from a Venetian father and a Salernitan mother: the intense colors of these landscapes are essential for his work in which he proposes an iconography of the landscape with all-encompassing views.

He experimented with different artistic tecniques, including fresco, attending the teachings of Antonio Pizzolon, later, in the 90s, he was a student of Thomas Langhe at the Bad Reichenhall Academy of Art, in Bavaria. From the German master he derived the conception of painting as a spasmodic dance that culminates in a work capable of capturing the viewer's attention.

He participated in many international exhibitions, among other, in London, New York, Lima, Seoul and Saint Petersburg. Through Itaca Investimenti d'Arte he was selected by the Asolo Biennale Prize of Art to be part of the delegation that in summer 2015 exhibited at the Cheongju International Craft Biennale, in South Korea.

"Finding yourself in front of Maurizio Camatta's work means being attracted to it, to immerse yourself in a chromatic magma which, moved by an intimate dynamic thrust, seems to abandon the support to establish a close relationship with the cosmic dimension of a primeval chaos. Microcosms, stellar explosions, oceanic universes make up the identity of these works, expressed in a densely material abstraction, which captures the power and totality of a vivid and intensely disturbed landscape, where water, fire and wind seem to shake a still primordial world, but full of vital saps and omens."
