The first monograph by Maurizio Camatta, an informal painter with solid training. Treviso by adoption, well rooted in contemporaneity, his works are distinguished by an informal expressionism full of tensions and suggestions. Dynamism of forms, volumetric and sign games, tonal contrasts, bright chromaticisms, compose an overall vision, with experiments, even extreme, in the relationships between space, light and colour. Maurizio Camatta communicates, through the language of material abstraction, uncontrollable natural events, and interprets an instinctive gesture, even if expertly controlled. In fact, his painting is not limited to the material, but "tells" the materiality of the earth and of events in their dialectical transformation. It is therefore a pictorial practice which, behind an apparent "easy writing", is traced by the automatism of emotional tension. In front of his landscapes it is inevitable to push the gaze beyond mere appearance and be involved in a primordial, vivid and disturbed world. Critical texts by Paolo Levi and Mario Guderzo. The publication of the monograph accompanies the exhibition hosted at Itaca Gallery, Verona, scheduled from 10 December 2010 to 31 January 2011. “Maurizio Camatta's works are generated by an energetic drive that is expressed through an informal expressionism in which the artist moves at ease, transposing suggestions and tensions that would otherwise be unspeakable.” Paolo LeviMaurizio Camatta represents the new contemporary informal. A painting of instinctive gestures and material abstraction that investigates the arcane secrets of nature. Dynamism of shapes, volumetric games, tonal contrasts, bright colours.
